What Keyword Difficulty means
Keyword Difficulty is a score from 0 to 100 that estimates how hard it is to reach the first page of Google for a given word. Lower is easier.
Step by step
- 0 to 29: easy. A new or small site can realistically rank with a solid page.
- 30 to 59: medium. You will need a genuinely helpful page and some links.
- 60 to 100: hard. Established, well linked sites dominate these words.
Good to know: Difficulty is a guide, not a guarantee. A very specific phrase with lower search volume is often a faster win than a broad high volume term.
Use difficulty next to search volume. The best targets usually have steady demand and a difficulty your site can realistically reach.
